Accessibility

Accessibility

Per the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"), the Town of Pagosa Springs (“Town”), Colorado, is making every effort to ensure that the information available on the Town website and other digital services are accessible by all. The Town strives to ensure that its services are accessible to everyone and has invested significant resources to help ensure that our website is easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities. To the best of our ability, we carry through on our belief that website accessibility efforts assist all users and that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence.

Compliance Plan

At the beginning of 2023, the Town began working on reaching WCAG 2.1 A & AA compliance. To achieve this, a compliance company called Monsido was hired to help identify PDF documentation and website content that required remediation. The goal is to be as close to 100% compliant by July 1, 2024, as possible.

The Town will stress the importance of these compliance changes under HB 21-1110, to staff members as a requirement to learn and understand. The Town recognizes the permanence of the contents of this bill, and the positive impact of its implementation for the disabled community accessing our website.

Accessibility on pagosasprings.co.gov

The Town has installed a web accessibility widget within its website. This software allows pagosasprings.co.gov to improve its compliance related to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. The pagosasprings.co.gov accessibility menu can be enabled by clicking the accessibility menu icon that appears on the lower left corner of the page (purple and white circle figure).

Effective Communication

Upon request, the Town may provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in programs, services, and activities. We strive to make information and communications accessible to people who have speech, hearing, or vision impairments.

Employment

The Town of Pagosa Springs does not discriminate based on disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations established by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
