27 Years of Service Comes to an End

Dennis Ford, longtime employee, retires

On March 15, 2023, Dennis Ford will hang up his tool belt and the Town will have to rely on a new handyman for their carpentry, plumbing and other repair expertise. That’s because Ford is set to retire after 27 years with the Town of Pagosa Springs.

Ford is the Division Supervisor for Facilities Maintenance and is responsible for maintaining all town facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean and comfortable for employees and visitors. Over the years, Dennis has built a reputation for being helpful and responsive.

“Dennis is very knowledgeable and skilled in Town operations and will be greatly missed,” said Town Manager Andrea Phillips.

Dennis was hired to work with the Streets Division in 1996, but he is also skilled at repairing sprinkler systems in the parks, has poured and formed sidewalks, and can install and repair almost anything. His skills, work ethic, and commitment to the Town seem endless.

In addition to working with his hands to improve Town facilities, he’s also a master in the kitchen and the garden. Coworkers are happy to sample his pico de gallo, green chili, fried green tomatoes and pierogi casserole.

When asked what he’s most looking forward to in retirement, Dennis said, “Spending time traveling and visiting family.”

A retirement celebration was held on March 7 with Town staff.
